Gnomonic called science responsible for developing theories and gather knowledge about the division of diurnal arc or path of the sun over the horizon, by employing specific projections on surfaces. This science is very useful to the design and construction of sundials and cartography.
Pedro Ruiz was a cleric Valencia mid-sixteenth century dedicated to the culture of mathematics, astronomy and gnomónica. His best known work is the Libro de reloges solares, which is considered one of the first works published in Castilian gnomónica. It is a popular book, where mentioned in detail and illustrates the design and construction of solar clocks of all types.
